Port Aransas Fishing Report: Redfish and Speckled Trout Bite Picking Up
The redfish and speckled trout are starting to show up in better numbers, and the bite has been getting very good. This Port Aransas fishing report covers what I’m seeing around Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Ingleside, Rockport and the surrounding bay systems.
As we move farther into September, I’m starting to see more redfish and speckled trout activity. That is a welcome change and should make for some good inshore fishing as conditions continue to change.
Redfish Fishing Is Picking Up
Redfish are starting to show up more consistently, and I've been seeing better opportunities to get customers on quality fish.
This is a great time of year to fish the shallow flats, shorelines, grass and nearby drop-offs. Redfish can move through these areas looking for shrimp, mullet and other baitfish, so paying attention to where the bait is concentrated can make a big difference.
The redfish bite will
continue to be an important part of my Port Aransas fishing trips as we move into fall.
Speckled Trout Are Showing Up Too
Speckled trout are also starting to show up and bite very good. I'm seeing enough trout activity that they're becoming a bigger part of my fishing trips again.
I like to pay attention to grass flats, deeper edges and areas where bait is moving. Some days the fish may be spread out, while other days they can concentrate in a relatively small area.
That's one reason I fish several different areas around Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Ingleside, Rockport and Corpus Christi Bay. I can adjust where I'm fishing depending on the conditions and where the better bite is happening.
Port Aransas Fishing Report for September
The big change right now is the increasing number of redfish and speckled trout showing up.
Black drum and mangrove snapper have provided plenty of action recently, but I'm excited to see the redfish and trout bite getting stronger. Having several species available gives me more options when I'm putting together a fishing trip.
