This Port Aransas fishing report has a good mix of fish to talk about this week. Black drum, redfish, and mangrove snapper have been biting around Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Ingleside, and Rockport, with live shrimp continuing to be one of the most productive baits.

Port Aransas Fishing Report: Live Shrimp on a Carolina Rig

We caught fish this week

using live shrimp on a Carolina rig. This is a simple setup, but it continues to produce when fishing deeper water, channels, structure, and areas where fish are feeding close to the bottom.

The Carolina rig lets the shrimp move naturally while keeping the bait down in the strike zone. Black drum have been especially willing to pick up a live shrimp near the bottom, but redfish and mangrove snapper have been hitting the same setup.

Black Drum and Redfish

Black drum provided some steady action this week, along with redfish mixed into the bite. Live shrimp is one of my favorite baits when I want to give customers a chance at several different inshore species without constantly changing setups.

Redfish can show up anywhere from shallow flats to deeper edges and channels, so I always pay attention to where the bait and current are concentrated.

Mangrove Snapper Are Still Biting

Mangrove snapper continue to provide plenty of action as well. These fish can be aggressive around structure, and live shrimp on a Carolina rig has continued to work well.

One of the things I enjoy about this type of fishing is that you never know exactly what will eat the next shrimp. On the same trip, customers can have a shot at black drum, redfish, mangrove snapper, and other inshore species.

Inshore Fishing Around Port Aransas and Aransas Pass

September can be a great time to fish the bays around Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Ingleside, and Rockport. As conditions change, I adjust locations and techniques to stay on fish and give my customers the best opportunity for a productive trip.

I provide the rods, reels, bait, water, and Gatorade on my regular bait fishing trips, and fish cleaning is included.

If you're looking for a family-friendly inshore fishing trip for redfish, black drum, mangrove snapper, speckled trout, and other Texas coastal species, you can book a trip with me through Clean Fun Fishing.
