Speckled trout have been biting live shrimp fished on a Carolina rig along deeper grass edges, channels, and areas with moving water. Keeping the shrimp close to the bottom and allowing the rig to move naturally with the current has been producing fish.
Black drum have also been taking live shrimp on the bottom. Reefs, drop-offs, channel edges, and deeper pockets have been good places to target them. A Carolina rig with enough weight to keep the shrimp near the bottom has been working well.
Mangrove snapper continue to provide some of the fastest action. Live shrimp on a Carolina rig has been the go-to setup, especially around structure and areas with good current. These fish can bite quickly, so be ready when that shrimp hits the bottom.
