Rockport Fishing Report – Great Summer Action Continues Along the Texas Coast

By Captain Justin Coghlan | Clean Fun Fishing

The summer fishing has stayed consistent this past week, and we've continued putting customers on quality fish throughout the Rockport, Aransas Pass, and Port Aransas area. Early morning trips have been the most productive before the afternoon heat settles in, and the bait has remained active across the shallow grass flats and nearby drop-offs.

Speckled trout have been biting well under popping corks with live shrimp, especially around grassy shorelines with moving water. We've also caught trout on shrimp-imitating soft plastics when the fish become more aggressive. If you're looking for steady action and plenty of opportunities to catch fish, this is one of the best patterns of the summer.

Redfish have continued to cooperate on most days, with many coming from shallow grass flats and potholes. Live shrimp under a popping cork has been producing consistently, and we've also picked up fish using cut bait when targeting larger reds. The key has been finding areas with mullet activity and clean, moving water.

Black drum are still mixed into the catch around deeper edges and muddy bottoms. They're providing excellent action for families and younger anglers because they're usually willing to bite when conditions are right. Live shrimp has remained the top bait for drum this week.

One thing I've noticed lately is that patience has been important. If fish get temporarily spooked by boat traffic, they'll often settle back down after a short period, especially when baitfish remain in the area. Staying on productive structure has continued to pay off.

Summer is one of my favorite times to take families fishing because there's always a chance at catching multiple species on the same trip. Whether you're bringing young kids who want nonstop action or experienced anglers looking for trophy redfish and trout, the Texas Coastal Bend continues to offer excellent opportunities.

If you're planning a vacation in Rockport, Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Corpus Christi, Ingleside, or anywhere along the Coastal Bend, now is a great time to book an inshore fishing charter. I provide all rods, reels, tackle, bait, and fish cleaning, so all you have to do is show up ready to fish.

I still have a few openings available over the coming weeks, but summer dates fill quickly. If you're ready to experience some of the best inshore fishing the Texas coast has to offer, I'd love to get you on the water.
