Summer Fishing Adventures in the Texas Coastal Bend

By Captain Justin Coghlan | Clean Fun Fishing

The summer fishing bite continues to be strong here along the Texas Coastal Bend! This week, I've been putting clients on quality redfish and speckled trout while fishing the waters around Rockport, Aransas Pass, Port Aransas, Ingleside, and Corpus Christi.

Texas Coastal Bend Fishing for Redfish and Speckled Trout

Redfish are still feeding aggressively on live shrimp under a popping cork. You can find them especially around grass edges, drop-offs, and shoreline structures. Speckled trout have been cooperating as well. Fish are being caught on both live shrimp under popping corks and artificial shrimp lures. The trout bite has been most productive during the early morning hours when bait activity is highest.

Whether you're an experienced angler or bringing the family out for a fun day on the water, now is a great time to book a guided fishing trip. My trips are family-friendly and designed to help anglers of all skill levels catch fish while enjoying the beautiful Texas coast.

Tips for a Successful Fishing Trip

  1. Arrive Early: The early morning hours are often the best time to catch fish. Arriving early gives you a head start.

  2. Use the Right Bait: Live shrimp is a favorite for both redfish and speckled trout. Make sure to have plenty on hand.

  3. Stay Patient: Fishing requires patience. If the fish aren’t biting, don’t get discouraged. Sometimes it just takes a little time.

  4. Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask your guide for tips and tricks. They are there to help you succeed.

  5. Enjoy the Scenery: The Texas Coastal Bend is beautiful. Take a moment to appreciate the scenery and the experience.
