  • Black Drum on the Reefs & Speckled Trout Fishing Report – Rockport, Aransas Pass & Port Aransas, Texas

By Captain Justin Coghlan | Clean Fun Fishing The fishing has remained consistent this week across the Texas Coastal Bend, with black drum and speckled trout providing plenty of action for anglers fishing around Rockport, Aransas Pass, Corpus Christi and Port Aransas. I've been finding some of the best black drum fishing over the local reefs using fresh shrimp on the bottom. The drum have been feeding well throughout the morning and have been a great option for families, first-time anglers, and anyone wanting steady action. These fish are putting up a strong fight and making for an enjoyable day on the water. The speckled trout bite has also been productive. Most of our trout are coming from grass flats and nearby deeper guts where baitfish are holding. Live shrimp under a popping cork has been producing consistently, while shrimp-style soft plastics have also been catching quality trout when the fish become more active. With stable weather and warm summer water temperatures, fishing conditions have been favorable throughout the week. Early morning trips continue to offer the best opportunity before the afternoon heat and increased boat traffic arrive. If you're looking for a guided fishing trip in Rockport, Aransas Pass, Port Aransas, Ingleside, or Corpus Christi, this is an excellent time to get on the water. Summer fishing continues to produce opportunities for speckled trout, black drum, redfish, and other popular inshore species. I enjoy helping anglers of all experience levels, whether you're introducing your kids to fishing for the first time or you're an experienced fisherman looking for a productive day on the Texas coast. I provide all bait, tackle, rods, reels, and fish cleaning so you can focus on enjoying your trip. If you're planning a Rockport fishing charter or looking for an experienced Texas Coastal Bend fishing guide, I'd love to take you fishing and show you what our local waters have to offer. • Rockport Fishing Report – Great Summer Action Continues Along the Texas Coast

By Captain Justin Coghlan | Clean Fun Fishing The summer fishing has stayed consistent this past week, and we've continued putting customers on quality fish throughout the Rockport, Aransas Pass, and Port Aransas area. Early morning trips have been the most productive before the afternoon heat settles in, and the bait has remained active across the shallow grass flats and nearby drop-offs. Speckled trout have been biting well under popping corks with live shrimp, especially around grassy shorelines with moving water. We've also caught trout on shrimp-imitating soft plastics when the fish become more aggressive. If you're looking for steady action and plenty of opportunities to catch fish, this is one of the best patterns of the summer. Redfish have continued to cooperate on most days, with many coming from shallow grass flats and potholes. Live shrimp under a popping cork has been producing consistently, and we've also picked up fish using cut bait when targeting larger reds. The key has been finding areas with mullet activity and clean, moving water. Black drum are still mixed into the catch around deeper edges and muddy bottoms. They're providing excellent action for families and younger anglers because they're usually willing to bite when conditions are right. Live shrimp has remained the top bait for drum this week. One thing I've noticed lately is that patience has been important. If fish get temporarily spooked by boat traffic, they'll often settle back down after a short period, especially when baitfish remain in the area. Staying on productive structure has continued to pay off. Summer is one of my favorite times to take families fishing because there's always a chance at catching multiple species on the same trip. Whether you're bringing young kids who want nonstop action or experienced anglers looking for trophy redfish and trout, the Texas Coastal Bend continues to offer excellent opportunities. If you're planning a vacation in Rockport, Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, Corpus Christi, Ingleside, or anywhere along the Coastal Bend, now is a great time to book an inshore fishing charter. I provide all rods, reels, tackle, bait, and fish cleaning, so all you have to do is show up ready to fish. I still have a few openings available over the coming weeks, but summer dates fill quickly. If you're ready to experience some of the best inshore fishing the Texas coast has to offer, I'd love to get you on the water. Family Fishing Adventures This Summer with Clean Fun Fishing

Early mornings brought lighter winds and comfortable temperatures, allowing anglers to take advantage of excellent inshore fishing opportunities throughout Rockport, Aransas Pass, Port Aransas, and Ingleside waters. Speckled trout continue to be the primary target for many anglers booking guided fishing trips with Clean Fun Fishing. Most trout have been holding along grass-lined drop-offs in 3 to 6 feet of water. Several quality trout have been mixed in with steady keeper-sized fish, making for exciting days on the water. Redfish action has remained some what steady around shallow grass flats and nearby channels. Cut mullet and live shrimp have been producing the best results, especially during moving tides. While trout have dominated the catches this week, anglers are still finding opportunities to hook into solid slot redfish throughout the bays. Black drum have also been showing up regularly, providing additional action for families and anglers looking to fill the cooler. • Speckled Trout Limits and Sunshine: Weekly Fishing Report for Aransas Pass, Rockport, and Port Aransas, Texas | May 25th 2026

By Captain Justin Coghlan | Clean Fun Fishing A Week Worth Talking About on the Texas Coast What a week it has been out on the water around Aransas Pass, Rockport, and Port Aransas, Texas. From calm early mornings to some afternoon chop, the fishing stayed consistent and the bites kept coming. If you have been thinking about booking a guided trip, this report will give you a real look at what is happening right now in the bays and nearshore waters of the Coastal Bend. Weather Conditions: May 19-25, 2026 The week kicked off with beautiful, fishable weather. Temperatures hovered in the low-to-mid 80s through Monday and Tuesday, with highs around 83 degrees and only a 20% chance of rain. Wednesday brought a change, with an 85% chance of rain pushing through and cooler highs near 78 degrees. That midweek front stirred things up a bit but also fired up the bite. Thursday and Friday bounced back nicely with highs in the mid-80s and mostly clear skies, giving us some of the best sight-fishing conditions of the week. Winds were manageable throughout, keeping most of the protected bays and flats very accessible. What We Were Catching Speckled trout were the star of the show this week. The trout bite has been outstanding on the shallow grass flats around Port Aransas and the Lydia Ann Channel area. We found fish holding in 3 to 7 feet of water early in the morning, and popping cork with shrimp lures were flat-out deadly in the first hour of light. Baits and Techniques That Worked Topwater plugs early morning (trout could not leave them alone) Soft plastic paddle tails on 1/8 oz jig heads in natural and chartreuse Live shrimp and also shrimp lures under a popping cork for redfish and speckled trout Cut mullet near oyster shell and drains also worked for redfish A Highlight Trip: Steve and Barbara Limit Out on Speckled Trout One of the best mornings of the week came when I had the pleasure of taking customers Steve and Barbara out for a guided trip in Port Aransas. These two came out ready to fish and they did not disappoint. We launched before sunrise and made our way to a shallow flat I had been watching all week. The water was slick and the temperature was just right. Within the first 30 minutes, Barbara had her first solid speckled trout in the net, a beautiful fish that hit on the edge of a grass bed. Steve was not far behind, connecting with a pair of back-to-back trout on a soft plastic shrimp and cork set up. The morning kept rolling. Steve and Barbara worked the channel edges methodically, stayed patient between bites, and listened to the plan. That is exactly the kind of fishing partner that makes a guided trip special. By mid-morning, both Steve and Barbara had their limits of speckled trout in the box. Big smiles, tight lines, and a cooler full of fish. This is exactly why I do this. Putting people on fish and sharing the experience of what the Texas coast has to offer never gets old. Book Your Trip with Clean Fun Fishing Ready to get out on the water?
